Animal Assisted Interventions with Patients

1. Lexicon for animal-assisted interventions, including the difference between service animals, therapy animals and emotional support animals
2. How to identify appropriate therapy animal teams
3. Best practices in interactions with therapy animals and clients
4. Infection Control considerations specific to therapy animals and clinical settings
“As a result of this program, the participants will be able to understand is what a therapy animal team is and what they can do to positively influence the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of those they interact with.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at South Puget Sound Community College.
Start time will be 6:30 PM – Building 34 on the second floor. Room is still to be determined – either Room 208 or Room 209.
CONFERENCE 2017 … May 18, 19, 20th. Our group will be bringing three fundraising baskets. We will be doing a “Wake up, Pick me up and Keep me up!” — Coffee Basket, Movie basket with popcorn & snacks, Wine basket with crackers & other snacks. Asking all members to donate either money or things/items to fill our baskets with these themes.

Regular meetings of the Thurston County Chapter of Medical Assistants will be held on the third Wednesday in February, April, September and November.
